Meetings
The South Shore Reiners meet on the last Saturday of every month, with meeting locations in rotation. Up coming events, fundraisers, and promotion of the sport are discussed amongst reining friends; new and old. We welcome anyone interested in reining to join us to see what the SSRA is all about! For information on meetings, contact Holly MacDonald at meadow_pond_stables@yahoo.ca
Fun Days
The South Shore Reiners gather several times a year to ride together and engage in friendly competition. This provides opportunities for up and coming competitors, many of whom are youth and novice riders, to develop horsemanship skills. They gain confidence and school their horses in a welcoming environment, which prepares them for the competitive arena where they will be competing with reiners from all over the Maritimes.
These "Fun Day" shows and rides are followed by a buffet lunch for competitors and spectators. All that attend are eligible to win door prizes and the class winners are presented with prizes. The SSRA welcomes new Fun Day competitors and spectators alike!
The first Fun Day scheduled for 2004 will be located at Meadow Pond Stables in Liverpool, on July 3rd. Watch for more details!
Reining Shows
The SSRA holds an annual competition in conjunction with the Nova Scotia Reining Horse Association and Reining Canada. This show draws competitors from through out the Maritimes, with expected numbers of 400-500 spectators. Reiners vie for accumulative points from this and other NSRHA shows for year end awards. A day not to be missed, the SSRA show is held at the South Shore Exhibition Grounds in Bridgewater on August 1st, 2004. Come out to see some of the best horses in Atlantic Canada demonstrating the world's fastest growing equine sport!
